Intranet application development
Want to improve your business efficiency & ultimately costs? A company Intranet can help you do just that. Your suppliers could use it to update information that can be viewed internally, saving time and ensuring information is shared with the right people. Or you may simply want to use it for document & information sharing within your company. However simple or complex your needs are, we will work with you to design & develop a secure system that will reduce paperwork, time & overheads.
What has this got to do with website design?
A simple answer is: Everything.
Although not immediately obvious, many database type applications are these days being run as an intranet based application or, in other words, a website on your company's internal network. Why would I want to do this?
Quite simply, an intranet based application is more lightweight on the users desktop. All the processing is carried out by the server, all data is centrally located and web services are ideal for multi-user access.
Running via an internal website or ( intranet site on an internal web server) also allows us to secure the application on a per user basis, so each user will have their own access and access rights. If needs be, this can be extended to the extranet or, more simply, we can give people secure access to the application from outside of your organisation. Do you have sales people or remote workers who would benefit from simple, secure access to your company's application?

Some say good, some say bad. We've been involved in a discussion regarding this within the Interactive Design Association recently and thought it may be useful to share some of the thoughts here. Traditionally, navigation has always been across the top of the page or on the left hand side. Now, with wider screens and more interactive websites, there is the opportunity to experiment away from the norm. But, people are used to having the navigation on the left aren't they? We think this is crazy.
