Capital Edge have been employed by PKS Property Services, a hampshire based small business, to completely redesign their website for them.We were approached by PKS, who felt that their current website design did not really reflect what they were about today. They requested that we redesign their website with a more contemporary look. PKS liked that fact that we were Hampshire based and had a real business focus on the way we design websites. We had some very lengthy discussions with them to find out exactly what it was they wanted to achieve with their website redesign and put forward some very focused ideas based on that. As a business, PKS have a vast number of services they can provide, most of which are related in one way or another. In order to keep things focused and easily navigable from the home page, we got them to focus on 6 key areas under which all the other services could be grouped. This gives site visitors the best chance to find what they want and the least amount of clicks to drill down in to the large list of services. Opinion on whether right hand navigation (where the menu bar is) on a website is very different across the industry. Some say good, some say bad. We've been involved in a discussion regarding this within the Interactive Design Association recently and thought it may be useful to share some of the thoughts here. Traditionally, navigation has always been across the top of the page or on the left hand side. Now, with wider screens and more interactive websites, there is the opportunity to experiment away from the norm. But, people are used to having the navigation on the left aren't they?
